Chamber music with a twist…

Slovenian guitarist Mario Kurtjak and soprano Meliza Metzger Gomez created Solent Duo while being students at the Royal Academy of Music. What was initially a student project, flourished to become an especialised chamber music ensemble which focus on reviving, arranging and exploring repertoire for high soprano and guitar, broadening it with new transcriptions, especially of the Spanish, Italian and Latin American traditions and collaborating often with young composers.

Engagements have included concerts at the Royal Academy of Music, La Guitarromanie, the Lent Festival in Maribor (Slovenia), ILAMS, the 31st Imago Sloveniae/ International Festival in Ptuj, Slovenia.

In the past Solent Duo has been under the guidance of guitarists Christoph Denoth and Timothy Walker.
